What Trauma Really Means, and What Healing Can Look Like

Trauma isn’t just war or assault. It’s anything that overwhelmed your ability to cope and made you feel unsafe or powerless—emotionally, physically, or spiritually.

What Trauma Does to the Brain:
Trauma can cause a chronic fight/flight/freeze response. It may feel like anxiety, depression, irritability, dissociation, or shutdown.

Our Therapy Approach:
We use trauma-informed modalities like EMDR, IFS, and somatic work to help your nervous system come back to safety. You don’t have to “talk it all out” to heal.

A Grounding Tool to Try:
Name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste. It helps bring you back to the present moment.
